About Recycling

City residents participate in a recycling project. The recycling trailer is located at the city shop parking at 10 E. Railroad Ave, junction of U.S. Highway 37 (Broadway) and Railroad Avenue.

The trailer comes to Groton the second and fourth Saturday of each month, and the hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Senior citizens or handicapped people can call City Hall at 397-8422 by Friday for assistance with recycling.

The recycling trailer accepts the following:

NEWSPAPER: May include comic and colored sections. Put papers in brown paper bags. Keep dry and clean.

PLASTIC: Only #1 (PETE) and #2 (HDPE). Symbols are located on the bottom of the containers. Containers must be washed, dried and caps removed. Pour spouts must be removed. Labels may or may not be removed.

STEEL (Tin) CANS: Remove labels, wash and air dry. Both ends must be cut out, placed inside and flattened. Cans with molded bottoms may be flattened with the bottom intact.

GLASS: Not accepted.
