There is a container at the pool parking lot at all times where aluminum cans are accepted. Proceeds go towards the operation of the pool.

City residents are encouraged to recycle. A recycling trailer is brought to Groton the first weekend of each month at the city shop at 10 E Railroad Ave. Senior citizens or handicapped people may call city hall at 397-8422 for assistance with recycling.

The recycling trailer includes:

Newspapers: put papers in brown paper bags and keep dry and clean

Plastic: Only #1 (PETE) and #2 (HDPE). Symbols are located on the bottom of the containers. Containers must be washed, dried and caps removed. Pour spouts must be removed. Labels may or may not be removed.

Steel (Tin) Cans: Remove labels, wash and air dry. Both ends must be out out, placed inside and flattened. Cans with molded bottoms may be flattened with the bottom intact.
